2024 Athletics Fun Day, Inter-Primary 2k Run, 1k Fun Run & Multi Lap Challenge

The Mayor of Swale, Councillor Sarah Stephens and consort, Councillor Paul Stephens presented the trophies at this annual event which took place on Saturday 27th April at Cromer’s Sports Field.  For the 2nd year in a row the Team trophy went to Tunstall CofE Primary School with 20 points.   Sheldwich Primary School who were winners in 2022 did come a close 2nd with 30 points.  Minterne Junior school who some years ago were winning the trophy every year had to settle for 3rd place with a score of 91 points. 

By the end of the 2k Run the field was pretty spread out apart from the 2 leaders, Jack Bull (Westlands) and last years winner Noah Gear (Tunstall).  They both had an amazingly strong sprint finish at the end with Jack Bull just getting a pace in front on the finish line. The trophy for 1st girl went to Mollie Wilson from Sheldwich with another strong finish. 

The 2k Run was preceded by a 1k Fun Run for school years 4 and under and after the 2k there was a 30 minute Multi-lap challenge for school year 7’s up to adults with 3 of the runners managing 6 complete 1km laps.

This event is to be held at on Saturday 27th of April at Cromers Sports Field, Sittingbourne with entry and all parking via Tunstall CEP School.  The 1k Fun Run (yr 4 and under) and the 2k Run (yrs 5 & 6) are open to all children of Primary School age living in Swale or the surrounding districts.  The 30 minute Multi-lap Challenge is open to children from year 7 up to adults.

Achievement awards

All runners will receive a medal.  In the 2k Run for years 5 & 6 the top 3 school teams receive a trophy which can be kept by the schools and the winning team receive the perpetual shield which they keep for 1 year.  This year we will also be awarding a trophy for 1st girl and 1st boy and 1st visiting district team.

Athletics Fun

Following the 2k and fun runs there will be demonstrations and taster sessions for many of the Athletic disciplines that we provide as a club.

Entry details

All entry will be on the day with registration opening at 9.30am.  The 1k and 2k are £4 each and the Multi-Lap Challenge is £6. Cash only please.
